UMM RETREAT / FISHING
"Fishing For Men"
Fishing for Men! UMM Men's Retreat,
Saturday Sept 25th, 8am-8pm. Morning of breakfast, Bible study
and Communion; afternoon of lunch, Chesapeake Bay charter fishing
and dinner.
Tentative plans are 8am -8pm,
beginning with breakfast, devotional, Bible study, discussion and Holy
Communion, and afternoon of lunch and charter boat fishing with dinner
onboard. The charter has been reserved (2:30p-dark), but still
working the morning meeting site, breakfast and lunch.
At
this point, Charter pricing will be $96/person (includes tip for First
Mate). If we have the charter cater our dinner of deli sandwiches,
drinks, chips that will be additional $15 each. If we get early
sign ups of over 26, then will reserve (if available) a second boat.
Both boats are well equipped with all fishing gear, bait, plenty of
seating, a/c or heated cabin area, and full service head. I've met
the owner, 2 ship captains and first mate and toured the boats.
Great guys, excellent boats, and they specialize in corporate charters
with exceptionally competitive prices.

UMW Summer Read
The UMW’s fourth annual
summer read will be The Faithful One by Michele Hartlove. It’s a
great book, plus the author will be joining us for a discussion of
the book on Monday, September 27 at 6:30 PM. You may sign up
and purchase a copy of the book for $10 in Fellowship Hall (part of
cost subsidized by UMW).
Seth Jacobs has it
all-looks, fame, wealth, a beautiful wife and three children, a
mansion in greater Boston, a highly successful restaurant business,
lots of friends, loyal employees. And in a series of reversals
of fortune beyond his control, Seth loses it all - his family, home,
business, reputation - even his health when he finds out he is dying
of cancer. Seth's faith is challenged by his friends who
suggest perhaps God has a reason for inflicting so much loss and
pain upon him. Suffering, he asks God, like we all do, "Why is
this happening to me?" Wanting his life to end, with some help
he finally finds an unexpected "answer" to his despair. A
modern-day story based on the Bible's Book of Job, The Faithful One
inspires us all to have a little more faith, no matter what.
