Welcome!
We welcome you to
Severna Park United Methodist Church and hope you will want to become a
member of our congregation. Your gifts and talents strengthens our church and our ministry in helping
others in the name of Christ.
Steps Toward Joining SPUMC
People Join in One of Three Categories:
1. Profession of Faith:
If you have never
been baptized, and/or have never gone through the confirmation
process as a youth, you will join by professing your faith in
Jesus Christ for the first time.
2.
Reaffirmation of Faith:
If you have been baptized and confirmed, but do not have an
active membership
in a
Protestant Church (and are probably not on any church rolls), or
if you are
coming from
the Roman Catholic Church or Orthodox traditions, you will
reaffirm your
faith.
3. Transfer:
If you have been baptized,
confirmed, and have an active
membership in any
Protestant
church, we will request a transfer of
membership
from your previous church prior to joining SPUMC.
Connections Gatherings &
Membership Meetings
Have you been connected?
Connections Gatherings are held several times a year.
A Connections Gathering is a time to meet and greet others, explore
the mission and ministry of Severna Park United Methodist Church,
discover more of the Christian faith (whether seeking faith, or
already in the faith) and get to meet others.
The date and time
of the next Connections Gathering is shown on our
Current
Events web page and in our weekly email
newsletter.
Should you feel that God is leading you to join
our church family, you are invited to attend a Membership Meeting
the following Sunday. At that time we will discuss your questions
about The United Methodist Church and the meaning of church
membership. You will be invited to become a member on a Sunday
following the Membership Meeting.
New Member Information
Forms
After attending the Connections Gathering, you will have an
opportunity to complete a New Member Information form. These
forms will be available at the Connections Gathering, or can be
filled out online.
