Our annual Talent/Service Auction will be held Sunday, March 26 at 6pm in Fellowship Hall. This is the big fundraiser for the youth trip to the Appalachia Service Project in late June.
This auction can involve the whole church family! We are looking for goods or services which you might be willing to provide to fellow members. They will be part of an auction, and the highest bidder will receive your offering at a time agreeable to both parties. For example: homemade cookies, cakes, pies, lasagna, soups, chili, etc… services such as leaf-raking, babysitting, oil change, painting, lessons, home repair, etc…use of a possession such as boat ride, use of beach condo, tickets to ball game or theater, etc. Gift baskets are popular as are all hand-sewn quilts, pillows, stuffed toys, paintings, etc. Pretty much anything you might create or offer that someone else would love to have is great! (We do discourage “things;” we prefer services and creations).
Items already donated will be out on display or the few weeks ahead of the auction. Other services may be claimed by the buyer in the year to follow the auction.
The evening of the auction itself is great fun. Youth serve homemade desserts and beverages at no cost, and there is child care. Things can get pretty funny and crazy when bidding on same items. We start at 6:00 and usually go until around 8:30 pm.
So first, plan to attend on the evening of the 26th. Then think about what you might donate. Everyone can do something!
All profits go directly to the Appalachia Service Project. This will be the church’s 37th consecutive year in support of this amazing ministry. We have about 50 youth who are hoping to go do home repair and relational ministry; please help them get there and make a difference!
