Chris Dillard

Director of Music and Worship Arts

Chris comes to SPUMC with over 15 years of experience in church music ministry. Growing up on a small ranch in the Texas Hill Country, his first love of God and music came from his grandmother who would sing country and gospel classics and used to listen to old Motown records while working around the house. Chris developed his love for music through high school, and with guidance from teachers and family, earned a spot in a collegiate voice studio and was part of the Texas Bach Choir. He attended Louisiana State University to study Music on a full scholarship.  Some of his most noted achievements at LSU were helping to resurrect and become the youngest conductor of the LSU Tiger Glee Club, becoming President of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music fraternity and working with “Fargo” casting director, Jane Brody, as a music and talent consultant on a university production of “Our Town.” Chris also has experience in elementary, middle school, and high school education. Chris plays guitar, piano, ukulele, and a mean dashboard drums.

Prior to coming to SPUMC, Chris served for eight years as Behavior Intervention Specialist and Athletic Director for Ed Brune Charter School, a school which serves over a hundred children in residential foster care and also many students from varying backgrounds within the local communities, while also leading worship at Uvalde United Methodist Church in Uvalde, Texas. Chris began to feel God leading him back into full-time music ministry and ultimately to Maryland where he is excited and blessed to be part of the family and ministry of Severna Park UMC.

Chris attributes all the goodness in his life to the God who rescued him and blessed him with an amazing family, wonderful friends, talents, and a desire to love and serve others. He enjoys anything LSU, the outdoors, reading, cooking, travelling, mixed martial arts, basketball, and golf.  He has two dogs, Otis and Lucy.
