Rediscovering Jesus as Friend, Rabbi, Savior, Lord, Way, Presence & Servant

Our fall worship series will offer us a 7-week fresh take on Jesus. Beginning on Sunday, September 8, we’ll do a JESUS REMIX and have a chance to re-examine some familiar ways that we talk about and understand Jesus. Some of these metaphors and titles speak more powerfully to us than others but together, they give us a more complex and fuller portrait of the One we confess to be Son of Man and Son of God. Our series will culminate on Sunday, October 27 when we focus on “Jesus as Servant” and highlight our three Volunteers in Mission trips for 2024 with testimony from team members and a composite slideshow of some of the good work our church has been involved with this summer and fall.

Freeing Jesus
A 6-week exploration of Jesus as Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, & Presence and taught by Rev. Ron. Part intimate memoir and part theological reflection, Diana Butler Bass shares her personal and unfolding journey as a disciple of Jesus through the many seasons of her life. Books are available now for $10 at the Welcome Desk and in Fellowship Hall.

Finding I AM: How Jesus Fully Satisfies the Cry of Your Heart
A very in-depth study revealing new insights about the familiar “I Am” sayings of Jesus, complimented by other related scripture. The author intentionally ties in Old Testament references. The study book is also a workbook, where you can invest as little or as much time into responding as you like. Books will be $20 and available at the Welcome Desk.

But within these books there are valuable moral principles and an understanding of God’s covenant with people of faith that will enrich both our lives and our world.
