October 12, 2015: Our Neighbors in Different Family Dynamics

This presentation with AACPS school counselor Sue Young explores the many shapes and stories that families take today. From single-parent households to blended families, grandparents raising grandchildren, foster and adoptive families, and more—Sue will help us see how each dynamic reflects resilience, love, and community. Through her experience working with children and families, she will share insights on how to better understand, support, and celebrate neighbors whose family lives may look different from our own. This conversation invites us to broaden our perspectives, break down assumptions, and live more fully into the call to love our neighbors.

November 17, 2025: Walking with Neighbors Through Mental Health Struggles
Erin Adams, Physician Assistant

Continuing the Know Your Neighbor, Love Your Neighbor series, this session with Physician Assistant Erin Adams opens up an honest and compassionate conversation about mental health. Drawing on her medical background and personal experience walking alongside patients, Erin will shed light on the challenges faced by those living with anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions. Together, we’ll explore how to break down stigma, recognize signs of struggle, and offer meaningful support to friends, family, and neighbors. This presentation calls us to respond with empathy and care, creating a community where no one has to face mental health challenges alone.

January 2026: Knowing and Loving our LGBTQ+ Neighbors
E. Levi Allen

As part of the Know Your Neighbor, Love Your Neighbor series, this session with E. Levi Allen invites us into deeper understanding of our LGBTQ+ neighbors. Through stories, insights, and practical guidance, Levi will help us see the unique joys and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and families. Together, we’ll consider how to move beyond assumptions, nurture genuine relationships, and create spaces where everyone is seen, valued, and loved. This presentation encourages us to embody compassion and openness, living more fully into the call to love all of our neighbors.
