Lent 2025: Words that Changed the World

Our worship theme for Lent will focus on the core message of Jesus (Sermon on the Mount, Kingdom of God, Parables, Final Words). We invite you to join us Sunday by Sunday as we remind ourselves about some of the most important aspects of discipleship.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Boy Scout Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on March 4 5:30-7pm. It’s a great evening for the whole family and you get to support Troop 993, too. Adults are $12, children 6-12 are $5 and children 5 & under eat for FREE!

Ash Wednesday

Begin the season of Lent in worship with us on Wednesday, March 5 at Noon and 7pm. Childcare is available at 7pm. You are also welcome to come by the church for Ashes & Prayer with one of our pastors throughout the day from 6:30am to 4pm.

April 13: Palm Sunday Worship at 8am, 9:15am & 10:45am

April 17: Maundy Thursday Worship at 7pm

April 18: Good Friday Worship at 7pm

April 19: Easter Eggstravaganza Family Event, 9-11am

Defying Gravity:
A Wicked Good Lent

Connecting Scripture with the music of Wicked.

Come join us on a magical journey as we connect the powerful music from Wicked (Popular, For Good, Dancing through Life, What Is This Feeling?, and of course, Defying Gravity among others) with the powerful stories in Scripture (like Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness, the Sermon on the Mount, triumphant entry into Jerusalem, the crucifixion and resurrection).

Lent is about simplifying our lives, grounding ourselves in God and focusing on what really matters. Come learn how we can clean house and heart this season as we discuss this fascinating book together.

Lent Knit-Along

Victoria Methodist Church, Bristol hosts a Lent Mystery Knit-along every year, and this year SPUMC is joining in the fun! This class is open to everyone who knows how or wants to learn to knit (Crocheters are also welcome, but you must find your own project).

Mondays during Lent at 7pm

This year's surprise pattern is a blanket!

Supplies needed:

  • 700-900 grams (or 1,000 metres) of chunky yarn in a SOLID color
  • circular needle of 100cm cable length, in 5.5m

In preparation, how to knit sessions are available on Feb 24 and March 3 at 7pm.
