United Women in Faith of SPUMC

About United Women in Faith

Purpose

The organized unit of the United Women in Faith shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

We welcome the women of SPUMC to participate in all our events and Circle groups throughout the coming year.  Our unit of United Women in Faith offers opportunities for fellowship, special events, mission outreach and spiritual growth.  Along with the UWF mission purpose, we embrace our church’s mission to Love, Serve, and Follow. We also embrace the mission of the United Methodist Church which is to put our faith in action by making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Membership

Membership shall be open to any woman who indicates her desire to belong and to participate in the global mission of the church through United Women in Faith.  The pastor(s) shall be ex-officio member(s).

Meetings

The UWF meets regularly for book studies, mission projects, craft ministries, and fellowship.  General meetings are usually held in the fall and spring. Board meetings are held the third Tuesday evening each month. For more information, please contact Dianne Netherland by email.

UWF CIRCLES

Our Circles (Small Groups):

Dorcas Circle is a monthly gathering of women who have talents to share like sewing or crafting and who desire to fellowship and craft together. They often create handmade blankets for Project Linus which provides the blankets to children in need. They are currently working on sewing and assembling teen hygiene kits for the Days For Girls organization. They also support the Appalachia Service Project (ASP) with donations of items to be auctioned off at the annual ASP auction.

For more information about Dorcas Circle, contact Cindy Rafferty by email or by phone at (443) 610-5432.

Heartfriends Circle is a group of women who wish to meet occasionally on evenings and weekends to enjoy fellowship and to provide ministries such as creating bible covers for the third graders each year and providing a basket of items for the ASP auction in March of each year. This group is great for women who cannot typically meet during the day.
