Rise Against Hunger – October 15, 2023

Rise Against Hunger (RAH) is a multi-generational annual meal packing event held at SPUMC with the help of an RAH event coordinator.  We held our inaugural event in 2018 by packing 15,000 meals, and we have packed 20,000 at our last 3 events, even all through the pandemic. Our 2023 packing day will be Sunday, October 15 with a Set-up shift at 2:30pm and Packing shift for anyone at 4pm. Our youth will be packing meals at their evening meeting during a second shift. One of the best and most joyful things about Rise Against Hunger is that ANYONE — kids, teens, families, couples, older adults — can all participate meaningfully side-by-side. It’s fun and it makes a difference.

We will package 10,000 meals as a congregation, and our Middle/High School youth will pack an additional 10,000 meals.  Rise Against Hunger will distribute meals to children in school feeding programs in third world countries, enabling children to receive an education.

Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable with a goal of ending world hunger by 2030. Most meals are shipped overseas to school feeding programs, enabling children to be fed and educated. Since 1998, RAH has delivered 462 million meals to 74 countries.
