Advent Outreach
Angel Tree
Take a real or virtual tag from the Angel Giving Tree (on the porch or online beginning November 23) and buy gifts for children in Annapolis or gift cards for our friends at Heaven’s Kitchen or Arundel House of Hope.
Intentional Acts of Kindness
Our Fourth Annual Intentional Acts of Kindness Advent project will take place once more this year. On the first Sunday of Advent, November 29, 11am – 12noon and again the next Sunday (same time, same place), you will have a chance to receive a $100 bill from one of the pastors on our front porch from and turn it into an intentional act of kindness. Many people choose to match this with an equal gift of their own (or some other amount). The only “rules” are: (1) You commit to being intentional about passing on this blessing and (2) You share the story with us of what you did. Due to the generosity of a donor for the fourth straight year we will be able to give out at least $10,000 to be multiplied into blessings throughout our community and world. We are still looking for other angel donors who may allow us to give out even more and you’d like to help out in this way, contact Rev. Ron.
SPAN Reverse Advent Calendars
Fill a grocery bag with nonperishable food goods and deliver it to SPAN on Benfield Road.
Serving People Across Neighborhoods (SPAN) works year round to provide food and financial assistance to people in need in our area. Each Advent, we invite you to support SPAN by participating in the “reverse Advent calendar” project: instead of taking an item out each day, place an item into the bag each day. Your donation of food helps to stock the SPAN shelves for many months to come.
How to get a SPAN bag: Beginning on November 29, you can pick up a blue SPAN grocery bag from the church porch, and begin filling it throughout the season.
How to return your bag: Please return bags to the gazebo in front of SPAN (located behind Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 400 Benfield Road) by December 23. You can also return bags to the SPUMC porch during the week of December 24-January 3.
Other Ways to Help: Support SPAN by donating online or by purchasing items from their wish list.
